Aluminum series
Yielding the Unyielding
This work takes “mono-materiality” as its starting point, using aluminum—a familiar, everyday metal—as the sole medium. Aluminum’s high recyclability also supports a sustainable approach, reinforcing the environmental consideration behind the material choice. Inspired by the sight of plants breaking through fences, I began to question the assumption of metal as purely rigid and indestructible. Instead, I explored its potential to be pressed, reshaped, and even reconstructed. Through physical processes such as polishing, hammering, and welding, aluminum was transformed into atypical states: reflective like a mirror, inflated like a soft cushion, and almost pliable in appearance. These experiments challenge the conventional perception of metal as cold and hard. By extending these material explorations into furniture design, the project creates new forms of tension between power and fragility, control and release, positioning metal not merely as a structural material but as a medium capable of expressing emotion, vulnerability, and resistance.

Application - Furniture field
I made some small furniture pieces of furniture one to five to explore the possibilities of this material in the home sector. In this group, one made a lamp that took advantage of the reflective properties of aluminum. The other is to make a sofa that looks inflatable by taking advantage of the strong ductility of aluminum.
